Grayscale: Institutional investors use Bitcoin (BTC) as a hedge against inflation

Grayscale is one of the best-known companies when it comes to simplifying the buying and storing of digital assets for institutions. In a new interview, Rayhaneh Sharif-Askary, Director of Investment Relations, gives some interesting insights into the current developments in the market of institutional investors and their relationship to Bitcoins (BTC) and Altcoins.

Bitcoin as a bet against inflation

In einem Interview With Coinscrum Markets, Ray Sharif-Askary reveals that the current year has seen huge growth in investors and that demand is greater than ever. The company is now responsible for 1,7% of all bitcoins in circulation.

One reason cited was the ongoing corona pandemic and its impact on the global economy and financial system. Current developments and the actions of central banks have contributed to Bitcoin being increasingly viewed as a store of value. Even if the price of the world's largest cryptocurrency could not remain stable with the crash of the stock markets as hoped.

According to Sharif-Askary, Bitcoin is increasingly perceived as an inflation hedge. Because while new money is constantly being printed in the USA and other regions, rising inflation is inevitable. That the US Federal Reserve yesterday announced that it would maintain its current course, should accelerate the development for Bitcoin as inflation hedge. Because while fiat money can always be reprinted, there will never be more than 21 million bitcoins.

Investors are buying more and more different grayscale trust

Bitcoin is no longer the only digital asset that is bought by institutional investors. Grayscale also offers trusts for Ethereum and other altcoins such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH) or Litecoin (LTC). And the offer is surprisingly well received by investors. A year ago, if fewer than 30% had multiple trusts, today there are 38% who invest in different cryptocurrencies.

In general, Grayscale can see increasing diversification. What cryptocurrencies are bought by Grayscale and how they are divided, we have summarized for you in the following contribution:
