Despite stagnant price: number of XRP tweets reaches all-time high

Twitter is the most popular point of contact among crypto investors in the social media heaven to find out about a cryptocurrency or to find out how big the current interest of a digital asset is. By using and searching for hashtags, this is particularly easy on Twitter. One of the largest cryptocurrencies has now been mentioned more often than ever.

XRP Tweets: Record broken several times in the past few weeks

XRP is the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, right behind Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Tether (USDT). While the XRP price has not seen a real increase in recent weeks despite an upturn in the market, the XRP community cannot be stopped.

As data from Bitinfocharts shows, tweets that contain XRP have been at an all-time high since records started in early 2018. More than 29,000 tweets that included XRP were broadcast on Thursday, July 9, 2020. The following graphic shows the development of the number of tweets:

For comparison: the previous record, which has been broken several times in the past few days, was just over 21 tweets on September 2018, 20,000. This value was exceeded for the first time on June 13, 2020. The number of tweets suggests that the XRP community is still behind the project and believes in its success.

However, the number of tweets with BTC mentions is far from reaching its all-time high. The all-time high of BTC tweets is pretty much where the BTC course also celebrated its all-time high. Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at just under $ 16 on December 2018, 20,000, with most of the BTC tweets ever sent recorded on December 7, 2018. More than 155,000 tweets were sent, which included the world's largest cryptocurrency:

XRP price stagnates

While Bitcoin (BTC) continues to move sideways and is not seeing any major price jumps, many other cryptocurrencies with high price increases caused the crypto market to rise. In particular, projects in the area of decentralized finance (DeFi) were able to record price jumps that are reminiscent of the ICO boom in 2017.

But XRP also continues to struggle with price increases. The price has seen no real growth in the past 30 days. After selling to $ 0,175 USD, the price rose briefly to $ 0,21 USD. The current price drops at Bitcoin, which mostly swept the entire market down, also brought the XRP down again to $ 0,19 USD.

Like most other digital assets, the cryptocurrency XRP is still far from the all-time high. This celebrated XRP on January 7th, 2020 at $ 3,40 USD.

But not everyone is convinced of the cryptocurrency. The well-known but very controversial John McAfee in the crypto space recently described XRP as worthless:

Not a fan of XRP: McAfee explains the importance of cryptocurrencies and calls XRP “worthless”
